People’s Conservatory and Music School

People’s Conservatory and Music School Ostrava offers education on a top professional level to everyone, who would like to develop their music talents, incl. persons with disabilities. We lead the children to culture and art in pre-school ages but we enable the adults or senior people to actively enjoy their free time too. Our students are educated in the artistic areas of dance, music, theatre and creative writing, fine arts and creative photography. Those interested in studying of music subjects can study not only classic music genres but also jazz, rock, and popular music. The People’s Conservatory has enhanced the cultural variety of Ostrava city already for 59 years since 1957. The Music School is here with us since 1991 and it can celebrate its 25th year existence. The founder of People’s Conservatory and Music School Ostrava is the Statutory City Ostrava.

17.00–20.00

Creative workshop “Let’s create our own original jewellery”

We will introduce the children participants with the drawing technique (drawing beads on an elastic string) an enable them to create their own original bracelet. The adult attendees will be introduced to the basics of so-called wire wrapping and we will show them the tools and material, and teach them the steps when working with a wire or with semi-finished jewels. Presentation of a fine art subject at the People’s Conservatory and Music School Ostrava will also be a part of the workshop. (by Jana Veselá).

Mini-course Beginning with a digital SLR

Short introduction to the possibilities and potential of a popular camera. A part of it will also be a presentation of a subject Creative Photography at the People’s Conservatory (by MgA Jiří Žížek).

18.00–22.00

A bit of non-medial communication or can writing and expressing be improved?

Meeting the Creative Writing subject in practice of PC and MSO: What the subject offers to the students, how we can use creative writing in communication, how it enriches people and what it takes in return (clichés and empty phrases)? A short presentation of students’ works. (by Mgr. Dana Havlenová).

18.00–21.00

Improvisation as one of the ways towards personal development

Meeting the drama subject on People’s Conservatory. What does its study give its students and what parts of their personalities it develops (by Mgr. Eva Polzerová).

20.00–20.45

Concert of the music department.

The students, teachers and their friends will perform with a classical repertoire.

21.00–21.30

Performance of the theatre students

The theatre students will present their acting skills and abilities.

21.00–21.45

A concert of jazz improvisations and a jam session (Concert hall of People’s Conservatory).

The students, teachers of the jazz and popular music department and their friends will perform.

 

All the events will take place in the Conservatory building at Watt Street in Ostrava-Přívoz, where the headquarters is located.
